Events Industry Avoiding UK Jobs Decline

by Cozgroove on Jan.13, 2009, under Tech

With the economy in recession, and uk jobs in decline, the events industry has been waiting nervously. Some sources report losses of over 1500 jobs lost a day over the last 3 month, and with the collapse of Woolworths earlier this month, January looks set to have over 50,00 uk jobs lost alone.

This all makes bad news for every sector in the UK. As for the events industry, we were all expecting there to be a downturn in ticket sales, which would lead to a decline on events and uk jobs for technical staff. However, surprisingly all signs have linked to an increase of ticket sales, and new events are popping up left right and centre. People are still spending their money on events to escape the doom and gloom of the recession. The fact is, live music in particular is going to hit new heights this year, as money from album sales decreases further, labels look to cash in on touring bands, by throwing bigger and better events than ever before.
